EMR Integration

Lutech Connects: Seamless EMR Integration

Why Good Connections Matter: EMR Integration in Colposcopy

Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) are the backbone of modern healthcare. When it comes to colposcopy, integrating imagery into an EMR system should be secure, simple, and seamless—without disrupting workflow. The Lutech Digital Colposcope connects effortlessly to a wide range of EMR systems, making image capture and documentation easier than ever.

Efficiency, Security and Flexibility

Enhanced Workflow with EMRs

Effortless Connection – Easily connect the Lutech LT-300HD colposcope with the HDIM or USB port to a computer and upload and store images in patient EMRs. Use these visual records to monitor patient history over time and improve follow-up visits.

Flexible Image Capture – During the exam the Lutech colposcope can connect to a monitor giving clinicians access to a large, high-definition screen for enhanced visualization. The intuitive controls on the device and remote are user-friendly and easy to operate. The LT-300HD enables hands-free image capture with a foot pedal, ensuring efficiency during the procedure.

Compatibility with All Major EMR Systems – Lutech works with providers using Epic, Cerner, Athena, eClinicalWorks (ECW), Meditech, and many others. Lutech provides a straightforward way to integrate colposcopy images into patient records.

Secure Image Storage Behind Hospital Firewalls – In most cases, colposcopy images are saved to a shared drive folder within the hospital’s IT infrastructure. This ensures stored images are behind the hospital firewall and comply with security protocols to protect patient data.

No PHI (Protected Health Information) Included in Images – For added security the images captured by the LT-300HD colposcope do not contain PHI, nor are they saved to the device. This extra later of security safeguards confidentiality and meets compliance standards.

No Disruption to Clinical Workflow – The provider captures images during the visit and later reviews and attaches them to the procedure note in the patient’s EMR. The streamlined process ensures documentation is completed efficiently without prolonging exams or interrupting patient care.

How Providers Attach Images to Patient Charts

The process for adding colposcopy images to a patient’s procedure note (also called a PowerNote in some systems) is simple and efficient:

  1. The provider captures images during the exam using the hands-free foot pedal.
  2. Save images to a shared drive location within the hospital’s secure network.
  3. When completing the procedure note, the provider clicks the media attachment icon within the EMR.
  4. The EMR system opens the media upload file, allowing the provider to select the colposcopy images from the shared drive and attach them to the note.
  5. The images, stored as small JPG files, do not take up significant space, ensuring smooth integration without system slowdowns.

Alternative Integration Methods

While most providers utilize a shared drive storage workflow, the Lutech Digital Colposcope also supports alternative methods, including:

🔹 OnBase Integration – Some hospitals use OnBase to manage medical imaging and documents. Easily uploaded and accessed Lutech images through this platform.

🔹 Stack Recording Systems – A live HDMI feed connects to a recording system and stores images directly into a hospital’s preferred platform.

🔹 PACS System Storage – Providers using a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) configure Lutech’s images and store them within their imaging database.
